May their families find solace. I will be there to offer prayers.

Including a prayer that we might remove machine guns from our not well-regulated militias.

This looks like a very worthwhile endeavor to participate in.

Ms. Bradshaw's opening paragraph says its purpose is to "show opposition to homophobia and gun violence." If I wish to show my solidarity with the LGBT community, and also silently voice my opposition to ISIS-inspired terrorism against gays, am I welcome to attend?

The terrorist claimed to be inspired by isis and then claimed several conflicting groups, according to the head of the fbi. He was also on grinder and jack'd.

Until we know, if we ever do, I'm assuming he was a highly conflicted, self hating, closet case, looking to hide his conflict b6 claiming to be inspired by numerous Islamic thugs.

Only one reason to be on grinder... ain't that right fellas?

All are welcome to honor the victims.

He shot 100 Americans in a couple minutes. How is that not a "machine-gun"?

Semantics?

Isn't "assualt rifle" just a polite term for machine gun?

Any weapon capable of killing 50 is an obscenity. Change the law.

Bless the victims, and those at the vigil.

I hope the vigil is well-attended.

Food for thought: 51% of American Muslims would prefer to be governed by Sharia Law which proscribes homosexual activity. If I were a member of the LGBT community, I think a prudent option would be to learn how to shoot (simply as a matter of self-defense).

It's interesting how Obama and the MSM have turned a jihadist terror attack against a minority group into a battle against legal gun ownership.

"51% of American Muslims would prefer to be governed by Sharia Law "

Oh, puhleeeezzze. That is a discredited poll (online, biased, never duplicated by any credible organization) by the infamous islamophobe Frank Gaffney. He's a complete idiot who has been peddling this garbage forever.

Hi Stop the Trolls!

I thought this forum was open to all points of view, not just those that adhere solely to the progressive narrative. I respect the president, and I mentioned nothing about Islamophobia.

Best wishes to you. See you at the vigil!

I'm not able to attend the vigil today but will light a candle at 4PM to join in spirit those that are gathering at the plaza. Maybe others will join me and do the same? Thank you to those who have organized the gathering.

dictionary sam:

a "machine gun" will fire as long as the trigger is held down. A semi-automatic weapon, which the Orlando shooter used, will only fire one bullet with each trigger pull. Definitions are important. Especially when you are talking about banning something that is already illegal to own.

ALL weapons are capable of killing 50 people. Even knives and clubs. How do you think it got done pre-firearm days?

There's video of the Orlando shooting where the audio records 24 shots in 9 seconds.

By definition, the Sig is not fully automatic. In reality? That's an insane amount of firepower to make readily available for any lunatic, terrorist wannabe, zealot, mentally troubled individual or criminal with a friend willing to step into a WalMart or any number of other stores to buy.

Anyone facing a barrage of 24 shots in 9 seconds isn't going to sit around and talk about the semantics of a SEMI-automatic.

Just an uneducated opinion.

semantics are important as are definitions when one is talking about modifying the rights of citizens.

24 shots in 9 seconds.

There are no "rights of citizens" to be able to kill large masses of people with that kind of firepower. Unless apparently, according to our founders, one is in a well regulated militia.

Anyone facing a barrage of 24 shots in 9 seconds isn't going to sit around and talk about the semantics of a SEMI-automatic. Or some myth of individual rights magically revealed under the guise of the term "well regulated militia."

............

Before you go all "Heller" and then I reach back to "Miller", and on and on, etc.., shall we honor these souls?

24 shots in 9 seconds. Don't try to defend the indefensible. You find you will start to look like a Republican Congress-critter. Pay attention to their votes on Monday, allowing terrorists to openly buy weapons capable of 24 shots in 9 seconds.

I am sure we agree to disagree. I imagine Kimberly Morris, Eddie Justice and the rest would probably choose side of sanity and regulation vs the insanity of near unlimited firepower.

If they could.

if we want to TRULY deal with this problem we will do what we used to do. Institutionalize the mentally ill. This man was clearly ill and should have been locked up long ago. Had we had the courage to deal with the incurably mentally ill we wouldn't be having these problems.

The horse long ago left the barn on trying to ban weapons. There's far too many of them out there.
