Dr Bruce Halperin was a top-notch physician, an impromptu comedian, and an incredible man. I have never seen a person take more pleasure in life, and he brought humor and joyfulness to all that he touched. Valerie, his incredible adoration for you was apparent to all. I wish you receive any support and love that delivers you through this painful, painful loss.

Bruce was an incredible man. I had the pleasure of working beside him in the OR for many years and being one of his comedic sidekicks at work. He was a great physician and friend. He was selfless; always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be sorely missed. Long live the dufus chair! (please don't delete, anyone who knew Bruce knew of the dufus chair)

I along with many others am sadened by this news. Bruce was one of the great one's! So sincere and so funny. What an incredible human being who some how always made you feel like you were part of the family.

I had the pleasure of working with Bruce as well as being patient of his a number of times. His calming demeanor sprinkled with just the right amount of humor made him one special and unique individual. What a pleasure and honor to have known and work with Bruce since he came to Stanford in 1980. He was a true professional, a great collegue and a very caring health care provider. this is truly sad news. Bruce and i have worked together for over 20 years on Old La Honda Road as part of the Old La Honda Road Association. he was significant contributor to the achievements of the OLHRA as both a member of the road committee and as a member of the association.

I have blessed to work with Dr. Halpren for more than 20 years. He was a stellar physician with superior skills and instincts. I personally witnessed his excellence in the operating room. He treated each patient with a unique combination of technical expertise and humor. He also handled very difficult situations with aplomb.

Dr. Halpren was a fantastic physician but an even better person. His infectious laugh and optimistic demeanor inspired everyone he encountered. The community lost one of its best citizens with the passing of Dr. Halpren. I for one will miss my friend.

We mourn this dearest friend. Everyone who knew him will feel the same way. He was someone who made a difference every day in the lives of everyone around him. My girlfriend, his wife, the rosy, shining apple of his eye, was a perfect match for him in every way. That he is gone has shifted our earth, too. We are in deep mourning.

I just heard tonight about the sudden passing of Bruce. I am shocked and saddened by the news along with all that knew him. I've known Bruce for 20+ years and he was such a character, always able to put a humorous and positive spin on almost everything. Bruce was a fine anesthesiologist and a critical partner in the AA medical group. Stanford and all the community surgery centers will miss his Brucisms for sure! Valerie, as one writer wrote before me, Bruce's love for you, his best friend and wife was so apparent and I hope the memories you have made together can somehow fill the void you will be facing. It's hard not to laugh or smile when you think about Bruce. Even if you didn't know Bruce that well, he made you feel like you were important to him. A very lovely and unique quality for sure. My heart is reaching out to you today as you process all that has happened. Big big hugs from all of the Novak's are beaming to you tonight. Rest in peace Bruce.

I only knew Dr. Halperin for a few years. I was a patient of his when I was having surgery with Dr. Goranson. I requested him on numerous occasions. I only found out about this a few weeks ago. I was shocked. I saw him August 19, 2016, when I had shoulder surgery. He had many stories that made me laugh. I made sure to have him finish a story he had not completed during a previous surgery...because he medicated me and I fell asleep. But this last surgery is memorable indeed! He told me: "Here comes the white wine." I said: "I don't like wine." Then it hit me and I said: "Oh yeah! That's good!" I was laughing with him as I fell asleep. I need to have yet another surgery and requested him. That's how I found out about this. It is sad news indeed! My thought, prayers, and condolences to his wife, family, friends, colleagues, and all others who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

I just learned of this tragedy. I knew Bruce back when he was an intern. Always a topnotch doctor, a friend, an honest man.. all the things we admire. I will miss his insight and humor. So sad and unjust to lose him

It's an unusual sunny day in SF with plans to get out and enjoy the sun. one obligations first than to the Farmers Market, check to see if I had Bruce's correct phone number to call his office on Monday April,24,2017. I can't stop crying.

I was a client of Dr Bruce for many surgeries staring in 2005 when introduced by Dr Dillingham. I requested Bruce for all 10 of my surgeries, he than was know as our family anesthesiologist. I wouldn't trust any another doctor. He made us feel safe when we would hear his voice and make his jokes.

He would always tease the nurses about wearing Capri pants, and how they made their derriere look unflattering large, and low. I played a trick by having my 16yr daughter pick me up after one of my surgery wearing Capri's and very high heels, he enjoyed the joke.

And Valerie, why do I feel we've met? It could be due to him talking about you, his love of his live, all the time. I feel for you.

Well, Bruce would tell me to stop crying and get out to enjoy the beautiful SF day. And I hope when Bruce entered the pearly gates God was wearing Capris. Thank you for being you as you will be missed .
