Forbes: Trump cheated at all levels in paying taxes

Original post made by section 516 scandal, Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park, on Oct 4, 2016

A billion dollar paper loss avoids taxes for 20 years, but why not cheat at the local level also?

Forbes: "Trump would go into the store with his wife, his girlfriend, his…whatever (to use his vernacular). He would then buy her an expensive necklace or wristwatch. Normally, such a transaction would face the New York city and state sales tax, which would be pretty high on luxury jewelry.

In an illegal attempt to evade the tax, Trump “asked” the store to instead ship the jewelry to an out of state location, where no New York sales tax could be collected. In fact, the store would merely send an empty jewelry box to the location, while Trump and his lady friends walked out the door with the jewelry that very day.

The state and city tax collectors eventually caught onto this scheme, and Trump promptly testified against his erstwhile tax evasion colluding partners at the jewelry store in order to save his own skin."

Nice! A cheat.

AND A SNITCH!

Loser!

More Trump tax cheating at the Forbes link, and even more coming to you via tomorrow's newspapers and news sites. And the day after. And the day after. And the day after.

I think the citizens of this country need to understand
that this is business as usual for the top 1%.

The 1% can afford to have the best lawyers and tax
people to advise them, they hear these kinds of "techniques"
from their friends and over the years and decades these things
become known wider and wider and they want to pay less and
less tax. Then it becomes incumbent on them to dumb
down everyone else ... and then our whole society and
economy suffers ... ie witness this Trump debacle.

Trump is lucky his Republican competitors suck at oppo research and this stuff didn't get started a year ago - it's all coming out fast now.

"In 1995, Donald Trump was in the midst of a spending spree. He had recently bought a 727 jet for personal use, added a skyscraper to his Manhattan real estate portfolio and snapped up properties in Telluride, Colo., and Palm Beach, Fla., financial records show.

That same year, he said he had negative $916 million in “federal adjusted gross income,” a claim that gave him the prospect of avoiding federal income taxes for years to come."
