Is It Time for an Atherton Referendum ?

Original post made by Observer, Menlo Park: Downtown, on Oct 8, 2016

The issue of spending up to $50,000 for yet another consultant's report is one report too many. The Atherton City Council wants answers from the Fire District. The Fire District has used their best efforts to accommodate that request. Despite a mountain of information, it has not satisfied the five elected officials. The answer - go ballistic.

Following Atherton's lawsuit after lawsuit pattern, this proposal is going too far. In the event the Atherton Council still decides to spend taxpayer's hard earned money foolishly, then it may be time for more responsible citizens to file a REFERENDUM to reverse their vote.

Hopefully more reasoned minds will find a way to sit down with one another to work things out more amicably. This can be between mayor and the district or perhaps a joint meeting between the two sets of elected officials.
