Spambots On The Loose On The Almanac Town Square Page

Original post made by Stop the Trolls, another community, on Oct 16, 2016

I think the moderators on the Almanac Town Square page need to check in on this page sometime -- it seems that a group of foreign spammers have taken over this page with their so-called links to streaming sports coverage (never mind, of course, that their links take one to sites one should never go to).

Guess someone in the moderator room needs to get out the spam disinfectant, and soon.

And the posts in question have been deleted by the page's moderators.

Good job!

Unfortunately, given the nature of these spambots, they will be back. The moderators will have their work cut out for them.

The spammers have been on the Palo Alto Online forum for a while now. They seem to be promoting foreign websites (which are doubtlessly full of malware). I think the forums should just ban any posts with links to foreign websites.

The spambots are also on the Mountain View Voice page -- and that page now is literally nothing but their spam posts.
