Education - De Vos - Schools - Religion

Original post made by Jack Hickey, Woodside: Emerald Hills, on Feb 9, 2017

An article in today's Daily Journal addresses local educator concerns over the appointment of Betsy De Vos as Education Secretary. Web Link

Carrie Du Bois, president of the Sequoia Union High School District Board of Trustees said: “She doesn’t have any experience. She didn’t go to public schools. Her children didn’t go to public schools. She’s not supportive of public schools and her track record and philosophies are that she’s not supportive of public schools."

She heads up the Department of Education, not the "Department of Public Schools". Education can take place in many venues. The key here is to facilitate choice. She will do that. See: Web Link

San Mateo County Superintendent of schools, Anne Campbell, said:

“Public schools are at the very foundation of our country’s belief system and our nation’s success,”

There you have it. A clear violation of the 1st Amendment to our Constitution!
What is "...our country's belief system..."? Secular Humanism? Isn't that a religion? You betcha!

That is why we need choice in education, and a review of compulsory attendance laws.

Devos was/is one of the largest donors to the GOP and despite her complete lack of qualifications, this is a payback to a huge donor.

Devos will be worse for our country and children than Bill Bennett, who promised to eliminate the department under Reagan; instead, they doubled it's size.

Devos will defend our schools from grizzlies, however.... Web Link

YouTube the answers DeVos gavery under questioning particularly to the feeble attempts and failures to answer simple questions from Senator Frankin.

Less knowledge than Trump. Zero preparation for questions.

Epic. Fail.

They limited Q&A for DeVos to 5 minutes so she wouldn't be exposed for her lack of knowledge about US school systems. Her autobiography should be called: "Buy some politicians, buy an appointment"

Don't miss out on the discussion!
