Clark Park. I like it!
I read of Mr. Clark's heroism during WWII, how he saved his ship, the USS Aaron Ward, from burning after being hit by kamikaze planes, and carried injured men to safety. He was also a long-time resident of Menlo Park, so I think it is appropriate, and an honor for Menlo Park, to have a park named after him.

Great to see a city park named after a true local hero instead of a politician who was not very memorable to begin with

Think it's a wonderful idea. The Secretary of the Navy flew out here to honor him--a true American hero who had to wait for being honored for many decades. It was an honor to meet him.

Mr. Clark was/is truly an American Hero who deserves this honor. Not only was he a War hero but an unsung BH community hero as well. Do the right thing Menlo Parks and Rec!

I LOVE this idea!! How wonderful to honor a man from our community who valiantly served our country, and who did not receive proper recognition as a war hero. Please make this so!

Honoring Carl Clark in this way would be wonderful for our community. We should celebrate Mr. Clark for his service and acknowledge the unfairness of bald racism that kept him from being awarded properly for so long.

If the City can bend the rules to name a building after a living billionaire, then surely they can bend the rules to name the park after a deceased resident and war hero. Community Services, don't mess this up - just do the right thing approve the renaming of the park. I know, he didn't dontate millions to the City and wine and dine City officials, he only served his country well. Honor his service, City of Menlo Park!

Excellent idea! And how about a bit of extra honor - an honor guard and the Secretary of the Navy for the dedication.

Great idea.
As for the normal five year wait - forget it. He lived to be 100.

I've been in Menlo Park 50 year's and if they don't find way to put his name on that park. I'm done with this place.

Sounds great! The 5-yr wait policy is basically a way to postpone dumb naming suggestions until people forget about them, but that's not this- grant the waiver.
