This is ridiculous. I don't need the state "protecting" me from myself. I'm not even sure what this would solve — if a car hits a pedestrian in a cross-walk, it's because the driver wasn't paying attention, not the walker.

If they will not regularly enforce drivers using phone in their area, how on earth are they going to enforce the law with people crossing the street?

I see so many cyclists going though RED Lights or not STOPPING at Stop Signs, surely this is a bigger risk to safety? which should be strongly enforced?

Or how about taking action when cars, trucks and delivery drivers park in Fire Lanes, answer is Sorry we too busy to deal with that yet not busy enough to stop people crossing using a cell phone lol

CBS News says 88% of USA drivers admit to using their cell phones while driving. Police apparently have little interest in enforcing cell phone distracted driving laws. While a pedestrian probably has little chance of outrunning a distracted driver that is bearing down on them, if they stop talking on their cell phone when walking in the crosswalk, they will have an extra moment to talk to pray to god before they get whacked.
