Nine handbags $37k just for the bags? Only in Atherton. Hopefully the thief(thieves) dumped the contents before fleeing.
How does a thief steal 9 handbags from a home party? Were these new bag or were the contents also stolen? Is one of the party guests a suspect? I would hope that the newspaper would report more details on a felony grand theft case.
Who would be a fence for stolen handbags? Maybe the stolen handbags get ‘cut’ like drugs and hit the street as 20 wallets.
And the town probably paid its PD $370K to investigate!
Women(some) use those handbags as some sort of freaky power play or competition between themselves. It boils down to insecurity from people who need to “Feel” wealthy. The only way they can do that is spending stupid amounts of money on silly things. They’ve studied the phenomenon comparing those buying a 23.00 t-shirt a dept store compared to the exact same shirt for $150.00 at Neiman’s.
I see a sad insecure person when I see all that glitz on display. Local readers of the Almanac know exactly what I’m talking about.
