An East Palo Alto man is in jail after officers from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office arrested him on suspicion of robbery, assault with a firearm, brandishing a weapon and criminal threats at a Dec. 24 party in unincorporated Menlo Park, according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, 18, was arrested in East Palo Alto on Friday, Dec. 29, at about 5 a.m. by a Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and is being held on a bail of $260,000, the statement said.

The suspect is alleged to have used a handgun in a robbery and assault at a party to which he had been invited at a home on Bishop Lane in the unincorporated Menlo Park community of Stanford Weekend Acres.

He left the party before the arrival of deputies, who subsequently obtained a search warrant that named him and his East Palo Alto residence, deputies said.
