All mail ballot is a disaster.

Original post made by Jack Hickey, Woodside: Emerald Hills, on Jun 8, 2018

Slightly more than 50% of ballots were counted by Wednesday night. Please! Let's go back to the old system where most votes are cast on election day at your local voting place.

What do you think?

Well, at least no one can complain that they "didn't have time" to go to the polls.

Geez, Hickey -- is there anything you DON'T hate? (Okay, other than Betsy DeVos...)

Sure,cancel mail voting.

And open up weeklong voting for those who work 70 hours a week.

And more voting locations for the poor side of town where peeps work 3 jobs and can't afford child care.

Vote for a month, I don't care. Just vote on PAPER. No digital voting.

I've been permanent vote by mail for ages, and intend to continue to do so. Why on earth would you want to wait in line to vote?

Why would you want to wait in line? Excellent question.

Why people complain they didn't have time to vote or couldn't get to the polls or our early polling isn't long enough is beyond me. We get our ballot mailed to us and literally have a month to complete it. It couldn't be easier or more convenient.

Of course, there are those who want to complain about everything...

Great handle - WRV.

All voting methods should apply. Who cares if you have to wait a day for accurate, transparent, paper based counts.

I've received vote-by-mail ballots for a couple decades. I still love to walk them into my local Precinct however. Love to see how many people are there, how brief the wait is, thank the volunteers and workers, etc.

I don't understand why Mr. Cranky Pants has so many complaints about our voting systems, either.

Jack: your so-called disaster seems to be challenged by everyone. What up?

We need more Americans voting, not less. Goes against your lib partisanship, yes, but too bad.

@Ducksworth -- I have the sneaking suspicion that Hickey would like to go back to the days when voting was limited to property-owning white men.

I could be wrong, of course...

What a ridiculous supposition. I greatly appreciate being able to mail in or drop off my ballot. I don't miss standing in line at all, or having to rely on voting center hours. Being able to track my ballot by its receipt is simple, too.
