Guest opinion: Help fight proposed rule that would harm immigrant families

Original post made on Nov 29, 2018

I'm proud that in 2017, the city of Menlo Park declared our values of inclusivity and diversity by passing a Welcoming City resolution and a Sanctuary City ordinance. Now we, the residents of Menlo Park, must take action to defend those values and protect our immigrant families by opposing one of the latest moves in the Trump administration's attack on immigrants and refugees.

Bravo Karen Grove! This sentiment needs to be shouted from the rooftops! My grandparents were also immigrants. My grandfather was an undocumented immigrant from Spain who was granted citizenship after serving aboard a merchant marine vessel during World War II. He took jobs no one else would do, at great personal risk, but he was proud to be American. Immigrants who sacrifice everything to be in this country deserve a chance at a decent life. Who among us can say we were not immigrants as some point in our family history! This policy should be repugnant to every decent person.

My ancestors were also immigrants. This is a great idea!

Our businesses really support immigration, as they need many more employees to keep labor costs down - thank you GOP for supporting big American Business and their efforts to keep wages low!

Bravo Karen Grove!

All this will be short lived until it reaches the US Supreme Court.
Read this: Obama used it against Az in the past and they won their case.
The Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution (Article VI, Clause2) establishes that the Constitution, federal laws made pursuant to it, and treaties made under its authority, constitute the supreme law of the land.

We should support all legal immigrants to the fullest extent possible and deport all illegal immigrants.

" deport all illegal immigrants."

Ha, ha, ha. That's funny. A real jokester, or a completely self-deluded Koolaid drinker. How are you going to do that? Double the size of polica and military? Romney's "self-deportation" plan? Look at the states that tried to crack down - Arizona, for example. I think it was Alabama, also. Crops died in the fields.

Republicans don't want it - they had Trump, the House, the Senate and decided to not do a thing. And there was Reagan's Amnesty, after all. Dems are at least honest about the money they take from big business.

Mister MM,

Your naivete is touching. As long as there are lobbyists, both political parties will succumb to campaign contributions. " Dems are at least honest about the money they take from big business". What a load of malarkey. Do you really think anyone is that gullible to believe that disingenuous statement?

No political party is honest about money. Do you still believe in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus? If so, I got a Trump hotel I would like to sell you.

Questions were asked of his 'solution':

How are you going to do that?
Double the size of police and military?
Romney's "self-deportation" plan?

His answer:
You are "naive".

He has no answers.

Riiiiiight. What planet do you live on? <snort> " the dems are honest about the money they take from big business." That's a hoot. Neither party is honest about the money they take.
