Original post made on Dec 14, 2018

The San Mateo County Coroner's Office has identified the woman who was found fatally stabbed in her home in the 900 block of Valparaiso Avenue in Menlo Park earlier this week as Kathleen Anne Hughes Anderson, 62. There are still many unanswered questions about the killing and the circumstances leading to the arrest of a suspect on Wednesday, Dec. 12, soon after Hughes Anderson's body was discovered.

Absolutely shocking and horrifying. We will miss our town arborist and deeply mourn her passing at the hands of a murderer. I can’t even wrap my head around this awful crime. Kathy was an amazing woman. She worked for the town of Atherton as an arborist since the 1980s and many of us had her visit for tree advice. She was so wonderful. I hope this murderer gets the death penalty. !!!!!

Was this a random killing (i.e., home robbery gone wrong) or premeditated murder??

Other news reports imply that the arrested man is the one called the police and then he stayed at the scene until the police arrived.

Well, sure, since he stayed at the scene with her blood on his person, until police arrived, he is an awesome murderer.
Maybe he can stay with you guys until a ridiculous SMC jury finds reason outside of the evidence to acquit him. SMH
Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and he deserves a fair trial absolutely. However, we aren't on the jury and anyone has the right to think he is a homicidal threat and that this should not have happened, are ALSO allowed to have an opinion.

”Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and he deserves a fair trial absolutely. However, we --- are ALSO allowed to have an opinion."

- while said opinion appears to contradict your opening statement.

You neglect that I pointed out since we are NOT on the Jury, we are entitled to have a logical, plain opinion.
People in the community and those who knew her expressing an opinion are not precluding said alleged possible maybe murderer from the presumption of innocence in a court of law.

Just like Judge Kavanaugh, innocent until proven guilty, right?

Kathy and I worked at the Town of Atherton together for 18 years and we’re friends. Kathy was a very caring person and a good friend. I am shocked that she passed away in such a violent way. She will be missed by all that knew her

Such a terrible tragedy. As a landscape architect I worked with Kathy on various projects for twenty years. She was always helpful and a delight to work with. She will be sorely missed by all who knew here.

A National Forest Foundation memorial fund has been set up in Kathy's honor to help replant burned forest land. This was a cause that Kathy cared deeply about so we have set this up for those who wish to contribute in her memory, in lieu of flowers or gifts. Web Link
