Nine _thousand_ dollars per month for a three-bedroom apartment in East Menlo Park!? Wholly untenable for a community, city and region -- where does the madness end, one wonders....

$8937 for a 3 bedroom apartment in one of the worst school Districts in the area.... wow!! That's a reach. How is that better then crossing a bridge? 9k a month will get an amazing place in Fremont and a good place in west MP.

And more bike parking then regular parking?? Where are they riding their bike to? Fb then.....

We've outgrown ourselves and are now teetering on the edge of unlivable/unworkable in MP. No public rail on this side of town to serve all these tiny boxes that will produce an unfathomable amount of new traffic. FB employees have no interest in living in this neighborhood. No restaurants, no groceries, no retail, no entertainment and not a walkable/bikable/scooterable area of town. Large peninsula-based employers (and smart long-term capital) have caught on and are shifting focus targeting other cities (San Jose) with better access to transportation and amenities.

If the city provides proper zoning, stores and restaurants should follow the development of housing and create a livable neighborhood. Adding even more desirable housing ought to bring new focus on improving schools and raise the bar for everyone in the school district. This all seems like positive news.

Good -- we need some more traffic on our already crowed roads

Are all these multi-story buildings near the Bay impacting the weather in the rest of MP? It's the breezes off the Bay which have helped make our summers and early fall bearable. What sort of impact do all these structures have on our temperatures and air quality? Environmental Impact Reports which take into account weather and air impacts should be required. Unfortunately I don't believe that was done with the large Bohannon project. It should be requirement with all planned structures over 25' tall.

This is ridiculous! Everyone knows the PERFECT number of Menlo Park housing units was set in 1995!

What, "when did I move here?" 1995- why do you ask?

Why!? Why the density? Why boxes? Why so high? Oooooooh 3/4 of an acre for public use. Give me a break. IF you add that kind of housing there should be 0 parking spots for cars. Not your car, not a guest. You walk or bike or get picked up. The schools are still gonna be less desireable than private schools for anyone who can fish out 10k for the box. Please, just stop already.

Stop using Facebook; Stop using Smart Phones and Apps. Just go back to the way things were, and the area will finally stop building overtly geometric gray buildings with gray wood floors, and life doesn't have to be about new products, or comments, or even TV. Just go back.

I love this so much. We need 100 of them and maybe we'd make a dent in the regional housing and traffic issues. I totally agree with putting zero car parking there. Ride your bike, take lift, take busses and shuttles. That number of spaces is inducing car ownership and driving, just what we don't want/need.

Seems like there is a lot of angry venting going on. Silicon valley is what it is. Extraordinary success has downside when everyone wants to move here for the amazing growth businesses and the serving of those employees. There's is no fault. Just people trying to make a living and take care of their loved ones. Yes, there are choices to be made and compromises. But let's have a bit more generosity of spirit and empathy.

More and more gentrification on the Peninsula...the developers, with the consent of city councils and the YIMBY crowd, are picking off all of the few remaining low income tracts on the Peninsula.

What is the income level of the existing residents in East Menlo Park?...it's certainly not enough to pay $9000/month for housing.

You don't have to look far, in terms of gentrification, to see what has happened in EPA...or Oakland....or San Francisco.

Why is it bad to improve the neighborhood? You use 'gentrification' as a bad word but fail to provide any reason for it being bad.

Also, please note that the current land is all office and industrial parks. It is a very poor use of valuable land in the heart of silicon valley.

We need more housing to bring down the cost of housing.

"The developer's recently constructed "Elan Menlo Park" apartment complex at 3645 Haven Ave. lists one- to three-bedroom apartments online for rent at a range of $3,518 to $8,937". Really?! Another one like this? Have we all gone insane? Where will the affordable housing be built for service workers, of which there are thousands? commuting from Fresno is not a good option.

I feel like I'm in a Japanese sci-fi movie and everyone is running into the street shouting

'Monster! Monster!'

This is a brute of a project with no desire for anything nice other than pack-em and stack-em for $9000/mo yuppies.
