Can we talk about how hilarious this is?
First, if you're trying to buy a pound of marijuana in a place where you can now legally buy it (or have it delivered!), you've got a problem. I suspect the guy was lured in by an impossibly cheap deal.
Second, really, you come to Menlo Park to do this?

Perfect...... buying drugs, usually a victimless crime.... drug buying = violence/ crime....

Let’s legalize buying the stuff in downtown Menlo Park... what a joke!

There are DUI arrests in Menlo Park, we need to prohibit alcohol sales in Menlo.

Particularly downtown, where high concentrations of alcohol dealers ply their evil trade.

He intends to make an illegal transaction. He gets into a car with those he wishes to buy from, so they can make the transaction far away from the police. Instead, these guys rob him.

Should anyone be surprised?

Good grief, what's next for these brainiacs?
"Man tries to buy a pound of tax free butter and gets robbed"

It's legal, go to the store and buy some. Nobody will stop you!
