I'm afraid that our community leaders are beginning to misjudge appropriate measures in this situation. Extreme closures of open spaces remind me of extreme insisting on not wearing masks (now hastily revised) just weeks ago.

I've been to Bedwell a few times lately, and hardly saw any passersby, let alone crowding (given its huge space, this park generally has very low visitor density, and "twice the daily average" is still very low density). As good aerobic shape helps combat the virus, these closures are most likely hurting public health on average. Someone will probably realize that and eventually revise it, just as they're doing it with masks now, but I was hoping for better judgment in our community sooner rather than later.

Thank you Kelly. I've been to Bedwell a few times and I totally agree with you.

You guys just don't get it, do you? The whole point of "stay at home" is to STOP the spread of COVID-19. If we don't what is necessary to stop the spread -- which does not mean getting together in large groups in parks -- we'll be dealing with COVID-19 for the rest of this year. And people WILL die because COVID-19 will not be brought under control.

And if you guys don't want to do what is necessary to put an end to this virus, I suggest you find some remote island and self-isolate, and leave the rest of us to do what is right.

Mr. Cultist,

When they tell you to jump off Golden Gate Bridge in order to save the planet, I hope you do not follow the order blindly. At least think a bit whether the order is sane. Anyway, I sure am for social distancing at the moment and sane measures, too, but closing outdoor space with 1-2 persons per hill does not sound like one... During Spanish flu in US, patients were pushed outside. Fresh air and UV are natural enemy of the virus.

Peter -- "When they tell you to jump off Golden Gate Bridge in order to save the planet, I hope you do not follow the order blindly. At least think a bit whether the order is sane."

Given how you had to say something that ridiculous to me right off the bat, I can safely ignore the rest of the nonsense of your post.

And remember: The Spanish flu killed 600,000+. Even with people being pushed out into the fresh air.

With all due respect Cultist,

You fired the first shot by berating Kelly and others for simply asking the question about the latest park closing measures. For the most part, Citizens HAVE been abiding by the rules and restrictions, and the data appears to support the idea that the original restrictions are having a positive effect -- ie lowering the spread and fatalities of the virus.

I think it's fair to ask why we would want to close open spaces, thereby forcing more citizens to congregate and exercise in neighborhoods where the population is dense. And it's more than reasonable to ask for an explanation as to why government is imposing new, tighter restrictions such as these, when the evidence shows the original (less severe) measures were having a positive effect.

You might be fine with blindly following the rules, but many others would at least like an explanation from our officials. And maybe a rationale beyond "because we say so" would convince even more citizens to respect the new rules.

Still putting out that lame argument, Johnny boy? That pathetically lame, juvenile, and above all, stupid argument?

Yes, the original restrictions put into place have had the *initial* effect of slowing the rate of transmission. HOWEVER, this goal is put into serious jeopardy by a large number of people congregating at the parking lost at the parks (thus increasing the likelihood of COVID-19 spread) and then too often not keeping at least 6 feet distance from each other (which also increases the likelihood of COVID-19 spread).

If people cannot understand that the best way of beating COVID-19 is to stay home *unless absolutely necessary* -- and it is possible to take a walk in your neighborhood without dealing with a mass of your neighbors (nice bit of faulty logic there, sport).

If you have a problem understanding why restrictions are in place, that is entirely on you. And it might do you some good to grow up for once in your life.

Cultist, since you are the all-knowing, compliant apologist for government, perhaps you can provide us with information on the organization which published the following:

How hilarious -- Jack Hickey, the libertarian gadfly who wanted to take away resources from the Sequoia Healthcare system to provide mental health programs, is NOW concerned about suicides?

Get bent. And grow up (I know, that's asking a lot from you...)

It's a good thing that the Sequoia Healthcare District has maintained a bankroll to respond to respond to the request of Louise Rogers, Chief, San Mateo County Health. I hope that bankroll wasn't too heavily invested in volatile instruments.

I don't know why the Governor hasn't commandeered the closed school vehicles for the emergency patient housing needs sought by Louise.

vehicles should have been facilities. And, I did message the Governor about this opportunity.

Cultist,

Ironic (and amusing) that you're telling others to "Get Bent"... and "Grow Up"... basically berating anyone who disagrees with you.

Read your posts again and then decide who's actually the juvenile one!
