Facing a shaky financial future, Stanford projects budget cuts, layoffs

Stanford University, projecting a $267 million loss from the first six months of the coronavirus shutdown, is planning for program reductions and layoffs in the next fiscal year.

Stanford has a stupendously large endowment and a very strong alumni network. If they would spend within their means and stop trying to expand, expand, expand, they surely would weather the storm more easily. I'm sorry to see that they have to do some belt tightening, but I hope they they don't decide that they will stop paying benefits at the end of their fiscal year.
