THE HEADLINE IS WRONG!
There is no evacuation warning for the Skylonda area (meaning the intersection of 84 and 35.). There is one for calfire district SMB E012, an area along 35 and Crazy Pete Rd. This is 7 miles from Skylonda. Unfortunately, someone at CalFire decided to call this area Skylonda. It has nothing to do with the area we all think of as Skylonda.

Hopefully everyone now realizes that the Peninsula is no longer protected by the usual moisture from the coastal weather. The areas being burned have not burned for fifty years but, with global warming, that trend is now over.
Only the direction of the current prevailing winds has kept this fire from surging over the ridge line and coming down into the eastern slopes below Skyline Drive.
