Transient arrested for allegedly starting illegal campfire near Woodside

A 20-year-old transient was arrested Friday morning near Woodside for allegedly starting an illegal campfire that spread to nearby grass, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

Just a point of information. We were awakened to the smell of smoke at 6:30.Smoke had been reported on NDW as early as 5:45. Engines and helicopters were on scene way before 11:39 AM and did their usual excellent job protecting us.
