As someone who owns an electric car in Belle Haven - and already has a home charger, no need for anything more, thank you - I think the city could more successfully promote EV usage by either subsidizing chargers at apartment complexes, or helping low-income residents pay for a charger at their home, if they get an electric car. Home chargers are much, much less expensive, and are guaranteed to get used constantly. Shared chargers at apartments would cost similar to those installed at the community center, but people are more likely to make use of them overnight. Having owned an EV for several years, I know one has to have guaranteed access at home to make the car a practical purchase; and once you have that access, public chargers don't matter for daily chores.

Thank you Alan. My question to the City was if they had talked with the community to find out what they think and need. Your comment demonstrates the value of checking with residents to get their input.

Great job Council and Mayor! Cool to see the Councilmembers investing and planning for future EV use.

Electrification is necessary if we are going to slow climate change. There is simply no other reasonable way. I applaud Menlo Park for making this move to a better future for all of us.
