Visiting our local mall is now like traveling to a third world country. Leave your handbags and jewelry at home. Keep your credit cards in a neck or belt pouch concealed by your clothes. Check out your surroundings before going to/from your car.
Or shop at Town & Country, which doesn't have covered parking and doesn't seem to have problems with armed robberies as Stanford has.

What the actual heck, law enforcement in San Mateo County?!! While "Fixin' San Mateo County" goes on its "kinder, gentler" advocacy efforts, I personally would like to see more law enforcement so our county return to being one in which, for example, shoppers can idle hours away at cafes and stores, feeding the economy with their purchases. Right now I wouldn't enter Stanford Shopping Center if you paid me. With all the focus on bringing in more low income residents on the peninsula, we may very well look like Venezuela soon.

Perhaps the Loss Prevention Officers should be trained to take pictures of license plates. Glad they called 911 but would have been good to get the plate numbers. The cars or plates could have been stolen but perhaps pictures would have helped solve the case. Also odd that the Mall's cameras didn't pick up the plates of the cars leaving the parking lots, assuming the cars had plates.

Realtor, In case you were not aware Stanford Shopping Center is is Santa Clara county, not San Mateo.
MP Father, it is possible that they have the plates from both cars, it is also possible that either the plates or the cars or both were stolen. That seems like a pretty easy to spot Dodge Charger. Stanford does need to step up patrols in their parking lots and probably installing license plate readers around the entrances would be a good idea. It is private property so they should be able to do that easily and they certainly have the money to do it.
