Some of the worst promulgators of disinformation are the so-called fact checkers. These moderators are biased, as is everyone.

When I go on Facebook or Twitter, I simply want to see what the people I follow have to say, with no interference from the companies.

So it's ok to post blatantly false information that is harmful? Even the first amendment has limits.

For all its flaws, social media has enabled far greater information freedom than that allowed by what had been a rigidly gatekept news and information virtual monopoly held by the pre-2000 electronic and print mainstream news-media.

Besides the Black Lives Matter and George Floyd protests, I seriously doubt that Greta Thunberg’s pre-pandemic formidable climate change movement, for example, would’ve been able to regularly form on such a congruently colossal scale if not in large part for the widely accessible posting and messaging systems of Facebook. [And, no, I'm not a paid shill for Big Social Media.]

As for all the prominently shrill conservative proclamations, I've found social media silences fossil-fuel-critical environmentalist voices just as much as conservative opinions.

Also, my own Facebook and Twitter accounts were disabled without any explanation three-and-a-half years ago. The relatively few Dislikes I had received came from pro-fossil-fuel sources.
