Leslie was my closest friend. She was a beautiful person in every way possible. Her life was filled with tragedy after tragedy, but she always surrounded herself with light and beauty. She loved painting, cooking, and makeup, all of which she excelled at. We met in a college biology class as lab partners, and she was fiercely intelligent, initially intending to go to medical school and become a neurosurgeon. She was more than capable, but life was not kind to her. She had recently finished a real estate program, and was looking forward to what the world had to offer. Words can not describe the pain I feel. Since the day we met, she’s been there for me. Any problem I had, no matter how big or small, she would listen and give words of advice. She meant a lot to many people. I can not imagine what her family is enduring, especially her younger brother and boyfriend, both of whom she cherished. The world lost a beautiful soul. I hope she is somewhere peaceful with her dog Suki, who also passed too soon. Her dogs will never see their mom again, and never understand why. I wish we could share a tub of talenti and posole verde in my dorm one last time. Leslie Buenostro, may you rest in peace.
