Gov. Gavin Newsom signs watered-down oil profit penalty into law

Gov. Gavin Newsom signs an oil profits penalty plan that is supposed to keep California gas prices under control. The oil industry says it will closely watch the regulations.

California's government continues to pile layer upon layer of red tape and interference in the economy. It's a recipe for stagnation/decline and increased costs. I find it hard to understand why anyone would want to be in the oil business in California.

Why just limit the profits of the evil oil companies?
