Seems that the same lunkheads who gave us the infamous Santa Cruz Ave "traffic calming" fiasco have outdone themselves this time with Linfield, having installed a ridiculously supersized roundabout island right where the two new housing complexes are.
Reaching that point in the road, you are suddenly squeezed over fully to the right side of the road with barely enough room to squeeze past.
But the real icing on the cake is that that roundabout is build low to the ground and covered with pale rocks. That combination makes it hard to see the roundabout until you're right upon it.
As a result, it's going to be an accident magnet - cars are going to either hit the roundabout curb and go up and over its rocks or hit the opposite curb when drivers swerve at the last minute to try and avoid the island.
You couldn't design it any more poorly if you tried.
If I were the Mayor, I'd get someone out there to remove it before the concrete dries - and then fire whoever at city hall thought that it was a good design!
