Just what is meant by "closing" a beach or a mountain trail?
It would seem that the intent here is for State park employees to become unemployed. A poor strategy at best to save money as they will all then go on unemployment. To keep Californians off the beaches and out of the parks is impossible.
Honestly, Arnold, there must be a better way!

Thornton Beach in Daly City was washed out and closed in 1982. There's nothing left to close

San Gregorio beach is hopping on warm weekends, and Natural Bridges is a very popular beach in Santa Cruz.

The state's already cut the budget for rangers to the bone -- they've been understaffed for years! Now they're going to fire them and save how many dollars? All while causing enormous damage to the economy by making the state less attractive to tourists, and crippling or killing the businesses that rely on beach traffic?

It seems to me that any saving obtained by closing state parks will cause a loss of at least the same size elsewhere. To some extent people will descend on other parks and cause higher maintenance costs there, and at the same time, we will all gradually become even more unstable -- a cost to society for sure.
