Early morning runners be alert

Original post made by Angry Runner, Atherton: Lindenwood, on Apr 10, 2013

This morning, around 5:30-6:00 am, my mom was running on Ringwood between Bay and Middlefield. She always runs with a flashlight and against traffic. Someone driving a gray car CHOSE to swerve into her path, forcing her to jump into the bushes. Even though she jumped into the bushes, the mirror struck her body, causing the body frame around the mirror to break off of the car. Other than contusions, hip pain, and trauma, my mom is ok. But really, are people so hateful that they target innocent runners who are out seeking the serene morning exercise. And worse yet, she drove to the menlo park police station to file a report but the officer in charge of reports was out... Now 8+ hours later and still no return call from the police, no one taking her report. Yes the possibility of catching this attacker is slim, but the horrific consequences of road rage on a helpless runner are indescribable. So runners be aware, be ready to jump into the bushes, and be patient because apparently the MP police are too busy to take reports. Sad this happened today, but so grateful my mom was uninjured and that today she was not running with my 20 month old daughter enjoying her journey in the Bob stroller
