As the first daughter born to the Blote family in 1960, I was so surprised to hear of the death of my Father. I'll miss him tremendously, the last three years our relationship was growing and we had reconnected. When I was born at old Stanford Hospital, Dr. Blair commented, "Well, we know who the Father is!"... I am his third child. His first son, Paul passed in 2001, a talented graphic designer and musical artist/songwriter. His second son, Patrick, a talented and dedicated Architect that like Dad was always building something in his room or taking this apart to find out how they were put together. My favorites were his toothpick airplanes. Dad was also always working on some airplane model as a teenager before radio control models were invented, and then that was a favorite hobby besides becoming an private airplane pilot, in addition. He and his older brother joined the Air Force to work on airplanes. He was always playing the radio in the car, usually classics by Frank Sinatra and the like. He loved to sing and played trumpet a long time ago. Young Paul was a great singer in the '70's and I sang at Carnegie Hall in 2002 but was more classically trained vocally. I remember he could whistle like a bird.
Dad was very talented and left three very talented children with his first wife, and another very talented daughter (Shannon) with his current wife, Irene.
Although his last home was in comfortable Atherton, over the years he lived around San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. We are known as the California Blote's, cause there are still cousins through our great-grandfathers living in South Dakota where his parents left in the '30's to head West!
Lovingly Submitted, Beth Blote
