Nobody for Atherton Town Council

Original post made by roving reporter, Atherton: other, on Oct 14, 2010

My write in candidate will be none of the above.

For two of the three seats up for grabs.

There is one candidate, a man currently serving on the finance comittee who has the credentials.

There are two others currently serving on the council who are unfit. One is despised by town staff for his micromanaging and cheapskate ways, the other is guilty of a conflict of interest (can you say high speed rail?)
[Portion removed; personal attack.]

Get real folks. Get involved, lets have a slate of candidates that doesn't constitute a multiple choice quiz with answers that can only lead to failure.

There is no requirement that you vote for more than one person.

There is no way that ANY correction will come to Atherton with out a FUNCTIONAL and DIFFERENT council majority.
Do the math-if Wiest gets in ( to replace Charles) then it will be Lewis, Wiest and swing voter Carlson--there will be only status quo--an identical mess to one we have now
If Dobbie and Widmere win, then Calrson will no longer be able to swing and he will just tag along with McKiethen Widmere and Dobbie as the new majority--this is the only chance there is for ANY reform.
I agree that it is not ideal--but we have no other choice if we want even a shot at correction.
Save the protest votes for sometime when we can better afford to send a message.
You are dreaming if you think Wiest is going to fix the police dept

In another discussion thread Mrs. Janz expressed shock and outrage at a post made one using the psuedonym "mob rule".

My advice to Mrs. Janz is "get used to it, get over it". Your husband is a public figure.

My advice is also that Mrs. Janz honest with herself and that she encourage her husband to do the same.

Mrs. Janz has said that her household complied with all of the Town's zoning ordinances. This is no more true than in the case of Elizabeth Lewis. (I fit funny but not humorous that Mrs. Lewis expressed the same kind of outrage as does Mrs. Janz).

It is a matter of public record that the Janz household had improvements done for which a final inspection was not done until well after the permit had expired. It also appears as though the Janz household had seismic improvements done which were never subject to a final inspection.

It is an established fact that Mr. Janz relied on his buddy former Building Official Mike Hood to grant a favor that Mr. Hood did not have the legal authority to grant.

I know this because I discovered it and I brought it to the attention of the former City Attorney, Marc Hynes.

As far as Mr. Carpenter's criticism of anonymous postings go, I can understand why people do so. I was the subject of a personnel investigation, termination and a criminal investigation. I had to spend two years and well over $100,000 to clear my name.

I consider Mr. Janz to be at least partially responsible for my suffering and the suffering of the community as a whole.
