Hank neglects to note that Romney ads HYSTERICALLY take the President out of context. Example:

In 2008, Obama said: "Senator McCain's campaign actually said, and I quote, if we keep talking about the economy, we're going to lose"

What show's up in Romney ads?

How sad is that? Almost as sad as when Romney goes to Ohio, Michigan and Florida and tells the governors campaigning with him that they can't talk about the improving economy in their stats. Web Link

Telling lies during a political campaign what a schock ! It has happened in the past and will continue in the future from both parties.Our system needs fixing.

It's one thing for a CAMPAIGN to edit their rival's remarks. Yes, THAT we expect.

But it's quite another for the "Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent" for the NEWS DIVISION (that's supposed to be the journalists...) of a major network to do that. It's really quite embarrassing to see Andrea Mitchell, a journalist with such a long, respected career to be part of this.

They're just as much the political hacks as Fox is for the other side.

Pogo The Apologist seems to think it's okay for Romney to spend millions broadcasting a snippet of Obama saying "Senator McCain's campaign actually said, and I quote, if we keep talking about the economy, we're going to lose" as Obama saying "if we keep talking about the economy, we're going to lose"

Instead, he supports Hank's rant about über-liberal propaganda minister Andrea Mitchell.

Otherwise known as Mrs Alan Greenspan. Quite the 'librul' elitist.

Yes, and all of this was from a guy like Hank who himself has never even seen a scanner. After all, he said, "And then I was at a WAWAs and ordered a sandwich… you have a touchtone keypad, and you touch that, touch this, go pay the cashier, there’s your sandwich. It’s amazing!”

Oh wait, you mean Hank was quoting what somebody ELSE said? Well, gosh, if was mistaken then I am just so sorry. Because any ETHICAL person would be offended for a quote to be taken so out of context that it not only misconstrues who spoke it but conveys an intent the exactly the OPPOSITE of what was intended.

But not our man Romney! After his campaign ran that ad showing McCain's words as Obama's, our man Romney doubled down and directly endorsed the ad.

Oh yeah, your guy's a gem. Yea.

What's really enlightening about Mitt's falsehoods is that they are picked up by the international media, but not the domestic mainstream corporate owned media, the corporations that Hank claims are "the über-liberal propaganda arm of the Obama Administration."

Four years ago, when I was writing about the 2008 presidential campaign, I wrote with dismay and surprise at the spate of falsehoods coming out of John McCain's campaign for president. McCain had falsely accused his opponent Barack Obama of supporting "comprehensive sex education" for children, and of wanting to raise taxes on the middle class, while his running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, took credit for opposing the so-called "Bridge to Nowhere", which she had actually supported.

At the time, such false and misleading claims from a presidential candidate seemed shocking: they crossed an unstated line in American politics – going from the usual garden-variety campaign exaggeration to wilful lying.

Ah, those were the days … after watching Mitt Romney run for president the past few months, he makes John McCain look like George Washington (of "I Can't Tell A Lie" fame)."

My personal favorite in Romney's cavalcade of untruths is his repeated assertion that President Obama has apologized for America. In his book, appropriately titled "No Apologies", Romney argues the following:

"Never before in American history has its president gone before so many foreign audiences to apologize for so many American misdeeds, both real and imagined. It is his way of signaling to foreign countries and foreign leaders that their dislike for America is something he understands and that is, at least in part, understandable."

Nothing about this sentence is true.

Newt Gingrich and other Republicans called Mitt a liar several times. Why won't the US corporate media come out and fact check Mitt's outlandish fabrications and falsehoods?

This thread has, as expected, evolved into a contest of which campaign tells the most lies. Clue: they both do. You can tell when their lips are moving.

Unfortunately, most of you have missed the original point of the post.

Andrea Mitchell isn't supposed to be a hack for anyone's campaign! Ms. Mitchell is SUPPOSED to be a journalist and is SUPPOSED to be displaying some objectivity. She is not the equivalent of Rush Limbaugh or Ed Schultz, or David Alexrod or Andrea Saul. Ms. Mitchell in the NEWS DIVISION of NBC News and is their Chief Foreign Correspondent.

You expect this stuff from Romney and from Obama, you DON'T expect this stuff from a journalist... let alone the most senior correspondent at NBC News.

PS - This is not the first example of pretty blatant bias by Ms. Mitchell. Just curious if anyone can point to examples of a major mainstream news outlet (ABC, CBS, NBC, NY Times, etc.) showing similar editing bias that favored a Republican? I'm not saying it hasn't happened, but I can't think of a time in recent history when it did. And if the best you've got is Fox News, save your ink.

Mitt's a great businessman. On that we all agree -- at least in terms of making the big bucks.

Even FactCheck.org, not exactly known for its right wing leanings, has noted that the attacks on Bain are largely untrue (at least with regard to sending jobs overseas).

But Palmer S deflects - and not even very deftly. This thread isn't about Romney or Obama lying about the other's record. They all do that. As does Limbaugh and Schultz, Hannity and Maddow.

This thread is about Andrea Mitchell, a JOURNALIST and the CHIEF Foreign Correspondent for NBC News, repeatedly lying about Romney. I've yet to hear the first accusation about a mainstream news network lying about President Obama.

Mrs Andrea Mitchell Greenspan "repeatedly lying about Romney"? Deflection, or hyperbole? Pogo has gone, in the space of three posts, from Mitchel's bad edit to "not the first example of pretty blatant bias" to "repeatedly lying about Romney."
