Mayor alleges 'culture of corruption' at Ravenswood school district

Original post made on Feb 18, 2018

East Palo Alto's mayor blasted Ravenswood school district leadership in two separate letters Friday and Saturday criticizing what he described as the district's "sneak ambush" solicitation of financial support from the City Council and alleging that district leaders have created a "culture of corruption."

Eliminating over 80 FTEs. 27% of salaries going to non teaching staff. Two thirds of the annual $48 million budget going to non-salary items. Where's the other $32 million going? The district has some major problems. Seems it might be time for the state to take over the running of the district in order to fix the problems.

Super needs to Go, time to clean house is a registered user.

I see the same situation we saw when Skelly and Mc Gee were superintendents, and Palo Alto has gotten rid of them. Why canto Ravenswood School Board Members do the same. Why do they want to pretend that Gloria is great and that they will not get rid of her? Ravenswood Board Members did nothing when the teachers presented their letter of "no confidence" are they going to do the same again? Their inability to see the big problem we are in does not qualify them to keep their seats, they need to go out with the superintendent and the employees who support her because she gave them promotions or retro pay. Like someone else said on Palo Alto on Line, it is time to clean house.

We have a friend who worked as a teacher in the Ravenswood School District for several years. She said the corruption within the administration was terrible. It seems time to have someone investigate where the funds have been going to make sure honesty and trust prevail. It would be nice to know how much money Maurice Ghysels has been making since he became their "Chief Innovations Officer".

That's what the San Mateo County Civil Grand jury is for. They can investigate Ravenswood. And should.

Super needs to Go, time to clean house,
What is the contact number for the San Mateo Country Grand Judy? Never done this, but I think this needs to be done, so she stops spending students' money and the in-house corruption.

Forming a JPA to pour more money into the district is the answer. More money always makes corruption go away.

Didn't the Superintendents husband run for City Council against the incumbent City Council members in EPA, on an anti gentrification ticket. Isn't gentrification why the school districts number are decreasing causing the budget problems. Beyond the Mayors attacks there are some serious money politics and political grudges at play here....

Perhaps it would be appropriate for the Civil Grand Juries in both Santa Clara and San Mateo counties to look into the issue.

Hernandez-Goff's husband came off like a buffoon when he ran for council. He clearly didn't know much about the city. I had higher hopes for her but she seems to have damage beyond what a buffoon would've done. And the Pulido-Wilson combo on the board is pretty bad. There's nothing like not telling the other board members what you're up to, or the council when you MAIL a letter, but notify the media first. And they dare attempt to excuse themselves and attack Abrica? Their hired PR hack is filled with hot air - it's both laughable and alarming. These latest shenanigans are indefensible.

Who owns the property for the Ravenswood schools? Some campuses are in Menlo Park and share facilities with the Menlo Park library and playfields? If Ravenswood closes a school, can they sell the property? The land must be worth a fortune and Facebook is buying up everything along Willow Road.

Those asserting corruption best be careful they have proof.
