A 17-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after he was shot in the leg in the Willows neighborhood of Menlo Park Tuesday night (Feb. 5), according to a police press release.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday found the teenager sitting on a sidewalk in the 100 block of East O’Keefe Street with a gunshot wound in his right calf, police said Wednesday morning.

The boy had been walking his dog with a friend and was on his way back from a convenience store at the nearby 76 service station when the shooting occurred, police said.

Officers searched the area and found a shell casing just south of where the boy was sitting, the statement said.

Medics transported the teen to a hospital “with non-life-threatening injuries,” according to police.

Police said in the statement that no further information is available and detectives are investigating.

Police are asking witnesses or anyone with information on the incident to call the department’s non-emergency phone number at 650-330-6300 or to leave an anonymous tip at 650-330-6395.

  1. This is the second shooting in that area recently. There was gunfire a few blocks south. I hope the Police are stepping up patrols in the area. This needs to be stopped before it gets any worse.
