On November 28, 2012, the Atherton Council with a Widmer McKeithen Dobbie majority will meet for their final time. It’s a lame duck majority, likely to use the meeting to implement policy based on a town minority opinion. A resolution that fundamentally changes the way Atherton compensates Town workers will be considered. The resolution will also shut down non-essential services for a week.
Bothersome, is the last minute nature of this resolution. The Mayor will even attend by telephone to ensure sufficient votes.
This lame duck majority should heed to the will of the voters and allow this resolution to be considered after the Council’s newest elected representative is seated.
