I was at this intersection Tues night, on my bike. The lady in the big black M-B SUV next to me was busy texting and took a while to get going when the light turned green. When she caught up with my bike she was still looking down and texting. Scary!
This happens all too often. So I WOULD jump to conclusions and assume the driver was inattentive. I pay attention to my driving and in 50 years have not had any problems with 85 year old adults jumping in front of my car.

Do you remember the poor woman who was killed under the 280 overpass at Alpine Road a couple of years ago? The original report said it wasn't due to driver error because of the way the bicycle impacted with the truck.
But the most recent investigative report revealed an unexplained impact of the bike in a very different place which would implicate the truck driver (as many of us thought).
My only point is to be careful about jumping to conclusions.
And it is difficult for me to believe that someone who is so environmentally conscious as to drive a Prius would be so callous to be texting. That defies logic.
