The Falling Crown,” Courtesy RCIA

The Falling Crown,” a thought-provoking new art installation by multi-dimensional visual artist Naledi Tshegofatso Modupi, has debuted at the Art Kiosk in front of Courthouse Square.

The exhibit opened on January 11 and will run until Feb. 25 at 2208 Broadway.

The Redwood City Improvement Association unveiled the installation in partnership with Fung Collaboratives. Modupi, a Johannesburg native, uses her artwork to highlight the visible effects of climate change on daily life.

By drawing parallels between the environment and the progression of hair loss in black women, “The Falling Crown” provides a unique perspective on the broader implications of global warming.

This exhibit is part of the Art Kiosk’s 2024 series, showcasing new artists each month to enhance the local art community and foster meaningful conversations on global issues.
