St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park welcomed its 17th president-rector, the Rev. George E. Schultze, at a Mass ceremony to launch its new academic year on Aug. 21.
The event also marked the introduction of a new class of 20 seminarians, the seminary’s largest class since 2013. The group represent eight dioceses from the West Coast and Pacific region, and 11 dioceses overall. Two seminarians are from Korea, a first for the 118-year-old seminary.
Located at 320 Middlefield Road, the seminary currently has 56 seminarians.
Fr. Schultze, a Jesuit, is a native of Mountain View and has served as spiritual director and on the faculty at St. Patrick’s for more than a decade.
He has a Ph.D from the University of Southern California in philosophy, theology and ethics, and a degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University.
He has served on the faculty and staff of the University of San Francisco, currently serves on the board of Catholic Charities of the East Bay, and is an adviser to Catholics for the Common Good.

Welcome Father Schultze! I hope there will be more opportunity for the local residents to meet you and to get better acquainted with the Seminary.
