The Palo Alto chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will take part in Constitution Day, Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Constitution Week is Sept. 17 to 23.
Events begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 2:30 p.m. Genealogy groups will help interested persons determine if they have an ancestor from the colonial era, Revolutionary War, or the War of 1812. Table displays will have patriotic items available and craft items for sale. Caricature artist Jody Carr will share her talents with veterans and their families in the afternoon.
Maritza Frankfurt, Caroline Landes and Angelica Volterra became full members of the Daughters of the American Revolution at the group’s first meeting of the 2007-2008 year, held Sept. 17 at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Palo Alto. Guest speaker was Dr. Charles Hanson of Menlo College, who spoke on the constitutional aspects of immigration, naturalization and citizenship.
