During the recent storms, a total of 4.15 inches of rain fell in central Menlo Park as of Monday, Jan. 28, according to Cotton Street resident Bill Russ.

This latest set of storms brings the total from Mr. Russ’ rain gauge to 12.6 inches since July 1, 2007, well ahead of the year-ago period, which was just 4.3 inches. The rain season runs from July 1 through June 30. The normal seasonal total for the area is 16 to 18 inches, Mr. Russ said.

More rain is likely over the next several days, according to the National Weather Service.
