“Flavors of the Garden,” a day of food and wine tasting, music, entertainment, and children’s activities, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the historic Allied Arts Guild, 75 Arbor Road in Menlo Park.
“Flavors of the Garden” is a first-time event that creator Susanna Segre Politi hopes will become an annual affair. Ms. Politi is co-owner, with Lucia Tedesco, of La Bottega, one of the shops at Allied Arts.
There will be more than a dozen guest vendors at “Flavors of the Garden,” selling everything from organic pickles (Happy Girl Kitchen, Santa Cruz) to Kahe sparkling nectar (Menlo Park). Allied Arts head gardener will be offering Kathleen’s Herbs and Garden Cart. “It will be sort of like a farmers market,” says Ms. Politi.
The public will be able to taste and buy food from the guest vendors. The Red Currant restaurant will have casual food for sale in the garden, as well as regular service in its Allied Arts restaurant.
Allied Arts Guild Auxiliary will sell wine glasses for $5 each, with wine tasting by Cannonball Wine Co. and Ventana Vineyards.
There will be music by several local bands. Plein air painters and ceramic artists will demonstrate their talents in the gardens. Paola Pafumi will paint her own ceramics and have tiles for children to paint as well.
Children’s activities will also include musical storytime with Nancy Andrus of the Menlo Park Public Library and shows by Happy Birds (performing parrots).
A donation will benefit Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.
