Sacred Heart Prep rebounded from a last-second loss to beat Soquel 10-6 and finish third in the Nor Cal Invitational girls water polo tournament on Saturday at the Sacred Heart Prep pool.
The Gators (22-2) lost to Davis 8-7 in the semifinals earlier Saturday. The Blue Devils (26-2) scored with 11 seconds remaining to play for the victory. It’s the second time this season Davis beat SHP.
Miramonte beat Davis 7-5 to win the tournament championship. Campolindo topped Leland 14-12 to place fifth.
At Gunn, St. Francis edged Castilleja 7-6 to finish 11th. The Gators lost to Arroyo Grande 10-9 earlier in the day while the Lancers fell to Acalanes 11-8.

Kenza Ashworth scored 12 goals to help Gunn beat Monte Vista 19-7 in the 15th place contest. The Titans lost to San Ramon Valley earlier in the day.
Stanford-bound Ella Woodhead scored four goals in SHP’s win over Soquel. Brienz Lang and Natalia Szczerba each netted a pair and Paedrin Gillett recorded nine saves.
Sacred Heart Prep, along with Menlo School, plays in the WCAL tournament this week. SHP has a bye into Thursday’s semifinals.
Hannah Multz scored the go-ahead goal midway through the fourth quarter for the Lancers. Ali Giusti led St. Francis with two goals.
Sydney Lowell scored four goals for Castilleja, her last one giving the Gators a 6-5 lead early in the final period. Annika Burks and Gabby Lewis also scored.
Hailey Multz tied the score with a penalty shot. Tiffany Maguire and Rana Khaloghli also scored.
Ashworth scored four goals in each of the first two periods in Gunn’s win over Monte Vista.
Mia Knezevic and Pooja Bucklin each added three goals and Megan Snyder also scored.
Boys water polo

Julian Montoya scored four goals and Jake Taylor turned into a brick wall in the net to help Menlo-Atherton beat Soquel 9-5 in a non-league match Friday.

It’s an important victory for the Bears (18-5) heading into the Central Coast Section seeding meeting, to be held a week from Sunday.
Soquel (17-6) is the first-place team in the Santa Cruz Coast League and beat Stevenson, the top team in the Monterey Bay Gabilian Division, on Saturday.
Owen Taylor scored three goals and Miles Scherer added a pair for M-A.
In other games, Palo Alto beat Mitty 12-7 and Gunn topped Serra 13-7 on Saturday.
