The Woodside girls basketball team finished fourth at the Cupertino Tournament after dropping a 59-42 decision to Saratoga on Thursday night.
Emma Kinder scored to give the Wildcats (3-4) a 17-16 lead early in the second quarter. Saratoga then went on a 33-10 run to open a 50-26 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Erika Rohlfes scored eight points during a 14-4 run to open the final period, helping Woodside pull within 54-40.
In a game played Wednesday, freshman Lani Stores hit a 10-foot jumper with six seconds remaining to give Sequoia a 32-30 victory over visiting Half Moon Bay.
Following a timeout with 9.2 seconds left, MaryJane Hartman inbounded the ball to Stores near the foul line. Stores dribbled into the paint and then took the winning shot.
Sequoia (5-4) opens the Newark Memorial Tournament against Santa Clara at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Boys basketball
Mission was forced to cancel Thursday’s game at Menlo-Atherton due to COVID concerns.
The Bears (3-2) travel to the Cactus Jam Phoenix Hoop Classic, which opens Monday at three sites in the Phoenix region: Chandler Prep Academy, Scottsdale Christian Academy and Sunnyslope High.
M-A is scheduled to open Monday afternoon with a game against Cleveland Heights (Ohio).
In a non-league game, Mountain View downed Silver Creek 56-47 as Maddox Telkamp scored 14 points and Joey Pier added 13 points and nine rebounds.
Joe Brown, Patrick Kane and Armaan Punjabi combined for another 19 points for the Spartans (6-3), who open the Aptos Warriors Invite with an 11 a.m. game against North Monterey County on Monday.
