The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Motorcycle Safety Operation in Woodside on Saturday, May 24, along Skyline Boulevard near Highway 84. Forty-one drivers and motorcyclists were cited for speeding, texting while driving and driving without a license, according to a May 27 press release.

According to the release, the Sheriff’s Office was responding to community complaints about speeding, unsafe driving and traffic collisions in this area of Woodside. The goal of the operation was to improve the safety of the roadways.

“We listened to the concerns brought forth regarding the dangerous conditions due to speeding and reckless driving, and we took action. We will continue to monitor and provide traffic enforcement to help ensure residents and visitors stay safe on our roads,” said Sheriff Christina Corpus.

The weekend operation was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety and coincided with Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, an annual campaign to promote safer roadways.

The Sheriff’s Office will continue to conduct focused traffic enforcement efforts throughout the year in different areas of San Mateo County.
