The Menlo and Sacred Heart Prep girls’ soccer teams ended the day the way they started: tied for first place in the West Bay Athletic League Foothill Division.

Menlo got a big play from Carolina Espinosa in the waning moments of Thursday’s match at Sacred Heart Prep to assure the Knights of at least a point.

The senior headed a corner kick from sophomore Dorothy Zhang into the net to knot the match at 1-1.

Molly Tinsley scored in the 15th minute to give Sacred Heart Prep the lead.

Menlo and SHP are both 5-1-1 with three matches to play. Notre Dame Belmont (5-1 WBAL) has a chance to move past both teams win a win against Castilleja on Friday. Priory hosts Notre Dame San Jose.

Notre Dame Belmont has matches remaining against both Menlo and SHP.

The Knights travel to Notre Dame Belmont for a match Tuesday. Menlo beat the Tigers at home 2-0 in their first meeting.

Notre Dame Belmont handed SHP its only league loss 4-3 in Belmont. The teams meet at Sacred Heart Prep on Tuesday, Feb. 15.

Priory remains in the running for an automatic bid into the Central Coast Section. Priory needs to place fourth and then beat the Skyline Division champion in a playoff. Harker is currently 6-0 in the division

Menlo-Atherton put a dent into Woodside’s record, playing the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division leaders to a scoreless tie Thursday.

Menlo-Atherton (5-5-6, 1-2-5) recorded its ninth shutout of the season, which includes four scoreless ties.

Woodside (16-0-1, 6-0-1) beat the Bears 3-2 in their last meeting.

Menlo-Atherton has played seven matches against teams either in first place or tied for first place. The Bears are 2-3-2 in those matches.

M-A tied Leland (10-2-2, 9-0-1 BVAL Hamilton), currently in line for Open Division consideration. Two losses have been by one goal. Only Woodside and Notre Dame Belmont have scored more than two goals against M-A.

Sequoia and Burlingame both won to remain tied for second place behind Woodside.

Reese McKeon scored twice and recorded an assist and the Ravens (12-3-1, 5-2-1) beat Aragon 4-1 in San Mateo.

Addison Haws and Nina Mills each scored and had an assist for Sequoia.

Burlingame (12-3-1, 5-2-1) beat Hillsdale 3-0 and travels to play Woodside on Tuesday.

The Wildcats have a makeup game with Aragon scheduled for Saturday morning. A Woodside victory would clinch at least a tie for the division title.

Hillsdale plays at Sequoia on Tuesday.
