Firefighters were working to put out a two-alarm vegetation fire that was reported just before 4:45 p.m. on Monday evening, June 22, on Arastradero Road between Alpine Road in Portola Valley and Page Mill Road in Palo Alto.
As of 6:30 p.m., the fire was contained, according to the Woodside Fire Protection District.
Multiple fire engines and a helicopter were on the scene as of 5:22 p.m. with more engines and a bulldozer on the way, according to Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit (SCU).
Cal Fire SCU, Redwood City, Menlo Park, Woodside and Palo Alto were among the fire departments that responded to the 3.5-acre grass fire, dubbed as the “Page Fire.”
As of 5:17 p.m. Monday evening, the fire had stopped progressing, according to Watch Duty, a nonprofit that tracks nearby wildfires and firefighting efforts in real time.
Entrances to Arastradero Road were closed while first responders remained on the scene.
Smoke from the fire could be seen on ALERT California wildfire cameras located at Foothills Park in Palo Alto. The cause of the fire was unknown and is under investigation, according to Cal Fire officials.
