Suej McCall at Gallery 9
The month of January often marks a time of firsts. But the first show of the year at Los Altos’ Gallery 9 addresses the possibility of a longtime local artist stepping back from her easel. The exhibition “My Last Picture Show … maybe” highlights an array of colorful works by painter Suej McCall. The show’s title reflects the artist’s diminishing eyesight, according to the Gallery 9 website, and the chance that she may retire from painting, with the title’s “maybe” leaving room for her to continue. McCall, who trained at Mills College and the College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, creates vibrantly hued landscapes and still-lifes in watercolor, capturing inviting scenes from her travels to places such as Europe, Australia and New Mexico. An opening reception for the show takes place this Saturday.

Opening reception Jan. 3, 1-4 p.m. The show runs through Feb. 1 at Gallery 9, 143 Main St., Los Altos. gallery9losaltos.art.
