Irish pubs are going all out for St. Patrick’s Day this year, with several hosting events for days leading up to the holiday before daylong parties on Monday, March 17.
Whether you’re looking for a weekend party with a live DJ, a place to catch traditional Irish music and dancing or a happy hour spot for an early end to the work day Monday, find your ideal way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on the Peninsula with our event guide.
St. Patrick’s Day weekend at Alhambra Irish House, Redwood City: The Redwood City Irish pub and sister restaurant to Stephens Green will have a St. Patrick’s Day music bingo night and Irish pint night at 7:30 p.m. March 12, followed by Irish pub trivia at 8 p.m. March 13. On the Rocks band will play at 8 p.m. March 14.
On March 15, a Celtic harp player will perform during brunch starting at noon, followed by live music from Magic Nostalgia at 8 p.m. and a DJ party at 10 p.m. Irish dancers will perform at noon on March 16, and Paddy O’Furniture will play jigs, reels and Irish jams from 5-9 p.m. On March 17 there will be Irish dancers, live music, Irish food and drink specials from 11:30 a.m. until close.

Fibbar MaGees festivities, Sunnyvale: The downtown Sunnyvale Irish pub is one of several Peninsula spots hosting a full slate of St. Patrick’s Day events starting the week before the holiday.
Through March 13, get $7 pints of Irish beers during late night happy hour. Half-price whiskey shots will be served from 5-10 p.m. March 12, and there will be a $10 steak, baked potato and vegetable special plus a 6 p.m. Tullamore Dew special on March 13.
Stop by March 14 for $14 fish and chips and get a glass of Guinness with an image of your face on it from 4-6 p.m. There will also be a DJ from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. March 14-15. On Family Day March 15, Irish dancers will perform at 2 p.m. and Roe & Co Irish coffees will be available starting at 1:30. Get shepherd’s pie for $14 March 16, with $7 Irish draft pints from 10 p.m. to midnight.
Doors open at 11 a.m. on St. Patrick’s Day, which will feature green beer, Irish food and music, giveaways and a DJ from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Events at Stephens Green, Mountain View: The Irish restaurant and sports bar in downtown Mountain View is hosting St. Patrick’s Day festivities for the entire week leading up to March 17 along with the holiday itself.
On March 11, stop in starting at 7 p.m. for traditional Irish music, Irish Pint Night and Irish tacos. Get a glass of Guinness with an image of your face on it during Stoutie Night beginning at 7 p.m. March 12. Irish band Dawning Day will play at 8 p.m. March 13. A 21-and-over party with live DJs, dancing and craft drinks starts at 10 p.m. March 14.
Another DJ party is scheduled for March 15 at 10 p.m., and patrons can come by at 7 p.m. that day to watch Six Nations rugby. On March 16, traditional Irish dancers will perform at 3 p.m., followed by singer-songwriter Stephen Ross at 4 p.m. Finally, Stephens Green will host an all-day party from 11 a.m. until late March 17.

St. Paddy’s Beer Stroll in downtown Los Altos: A ticket to this annual event in downtown Los Altos includes a wristband and map for access to over 20 tasting sites (all indoors), a collectible glass and a sample bag of chocolate-covered nuts from Choco Del Mar. The Penny Ice Creamery will also be serving its stout ice cream.
Hear live music from 10 artists, including TC Jazz, Gaby Castro and Norm Kahan. Participating breweries include Gordon Biersch Brewing Co., Lagunitas Brewing Company, Russian River Brewing and more, 17 in total. Nonalcoholic and gluten-free options are available. Tickets often sell out in advance, and the event will be held rain or shine.

Whiskey and chocolate pairing at Malt + Stone, Pacifica: The Coastside boutique is hosting a guided Irish whiskey and chocolate tasting with Bitter & Dry. Learn about the history of Irish whiskey, sample chocolates chosen to complement whiskey profiles and participate in a Q&A.

Fiddlers Green in Millbrae, Molly O’s in San Carlos and Behan’s in Burlingame: The sister Irish pubs will once again host the Holy Trinity Irish Pub Crawl March 14-17. Participants can collect a stamp at each of the three Irish pubs (with food or drink purchase) and earn a souvenir T-shirt at the final stop while supplies last.
On March 15, Fiddlers Green and Molly O’s will open at 7:15 a.m. for the Six Nations rugby match between Ireland and Italy. Traditional Irish band Fret & Fiddle will also perform at Molly O’s from 1-4 pm. (Fiddlers Green will close for a private event from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
On March 16, both pubs will also show the Carling Cup Final at 9:15 a.m. with Liverpool versus Newcastle, followed by the National Collegiate Gaelic Athletic Association hurling and Gaelic football matches at noon. Fret & Fiddle will perform alongside Irish dancers at 4 p.m. that day at Fiddlers Green. On March 17, Irish dancers and a bagpiper will perform throughout the day at Fiddlers Green and Molly O’s.

Luck of the Irish menu at Shoreline Lake American Bistro, Mountain View: The lakeside restaurant will serve a special menu March 14-18 featuring corned beef and cabbage, a corned beef sandwich, Guinness beef stew, roasted lamb chops and green scrambled eggs with Jambon de Paris and potatoes.

St. Patrick’s Weekend Group Hike at Castle Rock State Park, Los Gatos: No Worries Amigo Hiking Club hosts a 5- to 7-mile group hike in collaboration with Santa Cruz Mountains State Parks. The club will offer yoga, party favors, snacks, hot coffee and green wellness shots for participants. Prizes from REI will be awarded for the best green gear.
The group will split into three for a rocky, moderate hike with a little over 1,100 feet elevation gain and multiple stops to take in the view.

St. Patrick’s Day festivities at Hiller Aviation Museum, San Carlos: The planned leprechaun parachute jump was canceled due to rain in the forecast, but kids can still enjoy face painting, the paint-a-plane activity and a search through the museum’s gallery for hidden leprechauns to earn a treat. Children wearing green will also receive a special toy.

St. Patrick’s parties at Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company, San Carlos: The San Carlos brewery is hosting a St. Patrick’s Eve Party organized by the Society of Single Professionals. DJ Glen Coco will play a mix of music from the ‘80s to the 2000s, plus reggaeton beats and Top 40 hits. Food trucks and a photo booth will be on-site. Wear your best green attire for the chance to win prizes. Adults of all ages welcome.
And on March 17, Devil’s Canyon will open its taproom to celebrate the holiday with a $5 beer menu, live music, a food truck, a limited amount of green kölsch (beer) and $1 of all draught beer for patrons who wear green.
