Menlo Park police were called to the Belle Haven Community Campus on March 3 at about 4:45 p.m. after pool staff reported a man with what appeared to be a black semi-automatic firearm. Witnesses described the suspect as a Hispanic male between 30 to 40 years old. The man reportedly placed the firearm on a chair, entered the pool, then retrieved the weapon and placed it in his pocket before fleeing east toward the nearby train tracks.
The firearm was not brandished, and no threats were reported, according to the department. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing, the police department said.
