A residential fire in Menlo Park displaced a family early Monday morning, killing two small dogs and leaving one adult with minor injuries, according to firefighters.
Fire officials said two parents and their adult children were able to escape the home at 1304 Hill Ave. after neighbors alerted them to the fire in time. The father was treated for minor injuries, and no other injuries were reported, according to NBC Bay Area.
Firefighters credited nearby residents for quickly notifying the family, which helped prevent more serious harm. The fire caused significant damage to the home, and the family was displaced. The fire was first reported at almost 2 a.m. on Dec. 29.
The fire started in the kitchen of the home, according to fire officials.
Menlo Park Fire Protection District officials did not immediately respond to inquiries from this news organization.
