Special to The Almanac

Actor Brad Pitt was spotted at the Sharon Heights Shopping Center on Tuesday afternoon (July 27) while on a break from filming his new movie “Moneyball,” in which he plays the Oakland Athletic’s General Manager Billy Beane.

The Hollywood heartthrob was eating lunch at Eric’s Gourmet, said Sheri Oscarson, an employee at Peak Performance Chiropractic, whose office is across from the eatery.

When asked for a picture, Mr. Pitt politely refused, said Ms. Oscarson.

The film, which is being shot in Oakland, is based on a book of the same title that focuses on Mr. Beane’s innovative strategy for winning games without big-budget players. Due for release in 2011, the movie will also star big league actors Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jonah Hill.

  1. Love to read the “who’s who” of hollywood are enjoying our neighborhood restaurants! Especially the veritable “hollywood heartthrob” Mr. Brad Pitt!! Erik’s Deli will be more than pleased!

  2. There goes the neighborhood. Just what we need — another Hollywood SFB liberal. He should be eating in the Willows where the residents are more aligned with his political views.

  3. Hank, what did you say that was so distasteful?
Are you not a big fan, is your heart not throbbing?
Perhaps you could clean up your and put it in more acceptable format so that people like myself can appreciate what you’re thinking.
    Please share again!

For the record, I must admit that I think it is in extremely poor taste to ask the “star” for a picture. Afterall, isn’t that what he gets paid millions to do? Perhaps next time you confront a movie star you should get some cash out first before presenting this question. Just a thought.

  4. Possibly knoshing with Green Tech VC’s up the hill, since he’s a well known philanthropist for green tech housing (i.e., post Katrina)?

  5. Let me know next time George Clooney is in Sharon Heights…. Closer in age to “Sharon Heighters” than B. Pitt, the handsome actor would really be a sight to feast the eyes upon and our middle age crowd would let him have his lunch in peace and quiet….

  6. Big Al,

I would love to accommodate you but the editor, Tom Gibboney while being very tolerant of opinions critical of conservative thought is extremely intolerant of opinions critical of liberal thought. As long as Mr. Gibboney adheres to his double standard then relatively innocuous criticisms of the left will continued to be expurgated. He can’t help it. It is just who he is.

But you can see the hypocrisy. Better read this quickly, because the liberal police will be out there to censor this soon. But of course it is for our own good. Remember – Liberals know best and we should be grateful to have them guiding us through our lives.

  7. Hank —

I am sorry that Mr Gibboney expurgated your innocuous criticisms. The fact that you can spell ‘innocuous’ and ‘expurgated’ makes me question your ‘true conservative’ bona fides.

    Sarah

  8. Thanks to “Fan of Tom Giboney’s bete noir Hank Lawrence”, I now see what has been censored, and I am appalled! You call a disagreement with your opinion or point of view a “personal attack”? What you have really done, Mr. Gibboney, is expose yourself as a self-righteous opponent of free speech. Oh, why am I even bothering! You will probably censor this, too. I hope whoever reads this before you do, has the mindset to copy it quickly. That way, when your tactics are exposed in other venues and forums, we will have the evidence. You will probably be surprised to learn that even those who concur with you would not approve of such petty, self-serving censorship.

  9. “Disappointed”
You do disappoint in making such a big deal over Brad Pitt appearing in town for lunch.
I am glad you haven’t a clue of the celebs who manage to get past the aging bobby soxers or the nouveau groupies who visit me when they come to San Francisco for guest appearances and come down the coast incognito.
As for George C. he has been here also, but prefers Italy.

  10. R. Gordon–You seem to have me confused with somebody else. I never made a big deal over Brad Pitt being in town, or any other celebs. I believe that was the person who wrote the article, and other respondents. My only issue was the way the editor has censored what seems to be a legitimate comment from another reader. I’m really glad that Brad and others visit this area, just for the pure enjoyment of being here. Actually, it would be best if nobody made a big deal about it, so more of them would feel equally as comfortable. Being star struck really isn’t news, anyway.

  11. Disappointed……….
I am confused…….I was agreeing with the person who had their post removed and the name appears to be the same as your’s which denies the now removed comment you made.
As I said, George prefers Italy, and, frankly, it is a future plan of mine to move back to Europe.

  12. It is alleged that Tom Gibboney was spotted at a Tea Party Gathering in Alaska and was seen getting Sarah Palin’s autograph. Harry Reid was quoted as saying “We are going to have to delete Mr. Gibboney from the Journolist”.

  13. Now I am both disappointed and confused! That can happen with such a loosely accessable format–which, just for the record, I hope does not change. My most recent posting is the most accurate of my point of view, only to add that I think I have spent about as much time on this one as I care to spend. Thanks for the banter.

  14. I completely agree with “Disappointed”….I am far more interested in reading of the three homicides in the San Mateo County area in a week’s period.
That is news. Lunch is de riguer even for a film actor.

  15. Great Article Hannah, looks like you have raised a few eye brows.
I will be sure to keep my eye out for the film when it hits the theater. Way to go!
