Rob Fischer’s plans to renovate the historic BBC in Menlo Park into a three-floor restaurant are moving along; he requested building permits on June 25, according to the city’s staff.

The new BBC will feature an expanded mezzanine for indoor and outdoor dining on the ground floor. According to the city, Mr. Fischer wants to add an exterior staircase, create an outdoor dining area with a bar and grill on the roof, and switch the main entry from El Camino Real to Santa Cruz Avenue.

Mr. Fischer also owns the Palo Alto Creamery along with Reposado and, in Mountain View, Gravity and Scratch restaurants.

  1. Looking forward to this. Talk about an eyesore!

Please, please, let’s not have any debates about parking, open space, savemenlodeservesbetterdowntownspecificplan!

Let’s enjoy this, and encourage forward movement!

  2. this is an old restaurant that has been there for a long time. it could be good for social get-togethers or for the food and drink. hope that it is upgraded and a good place to meet people

  3. Maybe this place will encourage the Facebook workers to stay and spend money in Menlo Park instead of hopping on the bus back to SF.

  4. Everybody loves the Creamery, please let these plans go through. We used to take our kids and eat at the BBC, before it turned into a nightclub after dark at 10 pm or so, it was welcoming to all. Without the BBC, Menlo Park is a little bit darker. Please let the BBC restaurant open again and shine.

  5. Great news! Menlo Park is so void of any decent bars, especially open air bars. I hate having to go to Palo Alto or other area cities when there could be a perfectly good option right here. Thank you, Mr. Fischer for doing this. Hopefully, it will go smoothly and the MP NIMBYs will stay under their rocks.

  6. It’s about time MP gets some life pumped back into it! I hate having to go to RWC and PA too for a fun time and some drinks. I would love to stay in Menlo. There’s only so many times you can hit carpaccio and left bank in a week.

    YAY!!!!

  7. Hoping they have a good selection of micro brew IPA and vegan food options! We are lacking anyplace that has both and I’d rather spend more time in MP than PA all the time.

  8. Missed the BBC these last couple of years. They had the best rotating draft list in MP and a tremendous bar stock of single malt whisky and other liquors. Too bad the riff raft that lingered long after dark messed it up for everybody in the community. Hoping it’s more like the old BBC and less like Reposada. Don’t need a bowl of fish tacos and a marguerite for $28.
